WAO Announces Symposium on Food Allergy and the Microbiome

The World Allergy Organization has announced a symposium covering the latest research and opinions on the future of allergy diagnosis and treatment. The symposium will be held in Miami, Florida in early December.

Physicians and experts from a variety of disciplines will converge on the Miami location for the WAO Symposium on Food Allergy and the Microbiome on December 5 and 6. The two-day gathering will focus on new insights on the physiology of food allergy and allergic disease as well as the mechanisms of immune intolerance and the role of the microbiome in allergies.

“The scientific program of this symposium will offer the opportunity to take an in-depth look at what we are learning about the associations among the human microbiome, immune system, and allergic disease, and where the focus of new research needs to be,” said Lanny Rosenwasser, MD, President of the World Allergy Organization and Symposium Chair.

Limited attendance, a chance for discussion.

The symposium is limited to 350 attendees and will facilitate discussion and simultaneous tracks of presentations. Two Plenary Sessions bring participants together for both topics of food allergy and microbiome specifics.

During the Opening Plenary Session, Prof Susan Prescott will speak on "The Microbiome: Implications for Developmental Biology," and Dr Christine Joseph will present on “Respiratory Microbiome." During the Closing Plenary Session, Dr Hugh Sampson will present on "Food Allergy: Past, Present and Future”, and Prof Gideon Lack will present on "Secondary Prevention of Food Allergy."
