Aimed primarily at young adults and college students, the site says that this age group often defines how it deals with its food allergies through those the person interacts with.

"Our mission is to create a fun, safe, and social way for young adults with food allergies to meet and form relationships."

The site's founders are Arianne Schreer and Alexis Pizzurro, sisters from New Jersey, one of whom has a son with a nut allergy. Their app aims to provide a "fun and stress-free way" to meet and form relationships. Both women were honored by the Women's Rights Information Center for their dedication and commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism.

The site launched on Sept. 8. So far, the site has few members, but the idea may be on to something and could change. It has groups for members to join based on various allergies. There are Soy, Wheat, Fish, Tree Nut, Milk, Eggs, Shellfish and Peanut Allergy forums for members to join.

With about 15 million Americans having a food allergy and one in every 13 children being affected (according to FARE), the number of young adults with food allergies is on the rise. This could mean that a service like AllergicAttraction could easily become popular.
