Dads Hike for Food Allergies

Two fathers of food allergic children plan to fly from their homes in Wales to Nepal on Friday April 9th. Their goal is to trek to the Everest base camp and begin a 3 week climb up mountain Island Peak. Their mission is to raise money for the The Anaphylaxis Campaign and the Welsh Air Ambulance.

Hywel Watkin and Alan Parry have been friends for more than 20 years and both have children with food allergies. They've seen severe reactions first hand and are supporting the Air Ambulance because it depends on voluntary contributions and is vital in getting to people quickly and saving lives.

Island Peak is a 20,305ft (6,100m) mountain in the Everest region of the Himalayas. Both men have climbed in the Alps, but neither has been to this altitude before. They have currently raised £2,200 and hope to raise more.

If you would like to help raise money for food allergies, look for an event or walk near you. In the United States, the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network has walks scheduled through the summer.
