Allergy Eats Restaurant Ratings App Gets Retooled

The Allergy Eats website and smartphone app has been retooled to offer a better ratings system and for more user sharing options. The tools, which are known for their ratings of restaurants for food allergy friendliness, were first launched in 2010 and have become popular.

The ratings systems at Allergy Eats include ratings for food allergy types, including celiac/gluten, and gives users the opportunity to give a star rating and see what others have rated the business.

New features include a revamped interface for easier use and more social media.

Added flexibility for search results and a more updated visual appeal are some highlighted changes to the app. Users can also grade ratings left by other users inside the app and can also more easily share listings and ratings on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and more.

Searches can be made based on specific allergens in a given geographic area, helping users find a restaurant for their specific needs and near their current location. Several factors are used to rate the restaurant for allergens, including menu choices, staff communication, and cross-contamination policies in the kitchen.

Because ratings are based solely on allergy accommodation, many with food allergies have found it convenient as a way to find restaurants for their needs. Most restaurant rating sites and apps focus on the food and menu rather than the allergy-friendliness of the establishment.

The new Allergy Eats app is available for download for Android and iPhone.
