As more and more children are diagnosed with food allergies, more and more parents are advocating for accommodations. These accommodations take place in school, in restaurants and every other place a family might frequent.
These same parents are also starting food allergy friendly blogs, businesses and are advocating for your food allergic kid too.
Several parents of food allergic children have taken it upon themselves to make allergy friendly cookies and other baked goods. Jill Robbins of HomeFree, Michele Fellows of Sweet Alexis among others work day in and day out in an allergy safe kitchen making goodies food allergic kids can enjoy.
Gwen Smith editor of Allergic Living magazine is an allergy sufferer and Paul Antico, founder of Allergy Eats, a restaurant search site, has several food allergic children.
Blue Ginger in Massachusetts is a restaurant that has been known to cater to food allergy families as owner Ming Tsai has a son with food allergies.
Now another restaurant joins the group. Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa’s BIN189 restaurant, in California, is now offering specialized menus for kids with food allergies. Executive Chef Jim Lindfors has a child who is on a restricted diet and noticed that there were no menus for such kids. “These children are under so much scrutiny and pressure that dining out becomes more of a chore than a pleasure so I decided to create menus to make these kids feel special, not different.”
If you plan on visiting Lake Arrowhead resort and would like to request a special menu for your food allergic child, be sure to call 2 days in advance.
