I don't know if this topic has been discussed but I donate a lot of baked goods to my sons' schools to make sure their is "safe" stuff for them. I noticed that Pillsbury's quick breads - banana, chocolate swirl, cinnamon swirl... did not list nut allergens so I bought some. Later, looking at the pecan swirl bread, I noticed it did not list tree nuts under allergens either.
I called up to ask about this and eventually got a supervisor who told me only egg products are currently listed and that you should read the ingredients. This really bothers me since I am afraid other moms will only look at the allergy info trying to make foods they think my kids can eat. The supervisor basically said they can record my comment that they should not pull out the allergy info until they can list all allergens but they won't do anything about it now.

Sadly, even if we can get one company or several to change, there will always be others. The solution, while we are waiting for companies to improve their labeling, which could be a long wait, is to have our children only eat the food we have prepared for them, since we know we read the full ingredient statement, and it is only a guess what the non-PA mothers will bother to read.
Betty Crocker bought out Pillsbury. Betty C. is investagating all Pillsbury products.Pillsbury didn't tell me this when I talked to them last Friday. But my mom talked to BC Monday and they told her.

It is my understanding that all grocery store mixes (e.g., cake mixes) with the Pillsbury brand are owned by MultiFoods; all other grocery store Pillsbury brand foods are owned by General Mills (of which Betty Crocker is a brand). I have great trust in General Mills labeling; I have no clue about MultiFoods. I do not know if food service products (e.g., which supply daycares, schools, etc) with a Pillsbury label are owned by General Mills or MultiFoods or some other company.

I am shocked to learn that a product called PECAN swirl bread contains pecans. How could they not disclose such a thing? They should be put out of business forever!
I think you misunderstood - I wasn't shocked pecan swirl bread contained pecans - I was surprised that the allergy warnings for the pecan swirl bread didn't list tree nuts. I thought if they didn't list tree nuts under the allergens for pecan bread - how can I be comfortable that the other breads don't contain tree nuts or traces. I am disturbed that Pillsbury told me they have a separate allergy warning area but are only listing egg allergens in it. I am afraid that some people will only look at the allergy warning area and not the harder-to-read ingredient list.

dmhshop, raises a good point. If the pecan swirl bread was artificially flavoured then it wouldn't have listed "pecans".
If it really did have pecans in the bread then they are not labelling properly.
Just too add I make almond cookies that don't contain almonds. Just the fake artificial flavouring.
Don't be so quick to jump down someone's throat for what they write, most of the time our concerns are legit.
P.S..I should also bring up the cross-contamination factor since some allergic to say one tree nut will eat other tree-nuts. So, if one weren't allergic to pecans and purchased this product, the pecans were probably done in a factory with other tree-nuts and peanuts. If this is the case(which it 75% of the time is)then they should label "Pecans processed in a facility with other tree-nuts or Peanuts".

I know that this is OT for this thread, but I decided to do a search on this Nutster's posts and see that this one is right in line with the others. Not to mention a bunch of other idiots who are posting. Hmm...maybe I'll crash a few mb's that don't really concern me and give them my useless opinion on their issues. Nahh-I have a life and better things to do.
