OK, I admit it. We were supposed to get rolling again when the kids went back to school in September, but with Sept. 11th, I completely ran out of gas. But Lam's recent posts about Wesson oil just steamed my clams.
On the Manufacturer's Board, I mentioned the possibility of contacting Michael Moore. I was half-joking, but found he appears to be pretty easy to reach. Please post your ideas for what to include in a letter to him, and I will write it after January 1st.
If anyone has any other ideas on how to deal with this beast of a company, I'm all ears. Since us contacting them directly seems to do absolutely nothing, I think we have to address third parties. I just don't know who to contact in order to make a difference.
Happy Holidays to all!

Count me in... just let me know where to call, write, whatever!!
There have to be other HUGE companies that label well, that don't see it as an "inconvenience". Maybe using them as an example would help?
I get the feeling we're just going to have to go 'over their heads' with this. I received a very frank answer to my question of "Will the labeling ever be changed?" "NO!" That's just not acceptable.
Again, count me in!!!
Count me in also!!!! I am so tired of this company and their Logo is showing up on more products it seems everytime I go to the store.
Count me in!
I have written to Michael Moore, imploring him to help our cause against the Goliath ConAgra. Even if he can't "give them the treatment" himself, maybe he can suggest some strategies.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I just received my newsletter from FAAN and they have a brief message regarding ConAgra. It says that ConAgra Foods has implemented a format for allergen labeling on all its retail and food service products. Below the ingredient statements, the information will appear in bold, capital letters. For example, CONTAINS: MILK, PEANUTS, SOY, AND WALNUTS.
However it does not say if this will include may contain or manufactured in the same facility...but it is a start!
I'd like to help. Even if they are labeling for allergens, they still refuse to label for cross-contamination risk. There are some conagra products that I just cannot live without (like egg beaters, for one). I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I'm not sure if this would even do any good, but maybe if a huge mass of people filed complaints at http://www.planetfeedback.com it might put a small fire under their butts. I've used them to complain to other companies in the past and almost always get some results. It would have to be a huge amount of complainers though.

Gale,
Did you know you can make your own egg beaters? I know I have seen the recipe,
maybe at Ann and Nan.

That's interesting. But I have this phobia about handling raw eggs-that's the reason I use egg beaters. I will use regular eggs only for hard boiling, and then I wear plastic gloves to put them in the water. Just one of my many weird quirks, I guess. lol.
