Banana Boat Baby Block

we always use banana boat sun blocks for our kids, the only reactions we have had is when it accidentally gets in their eyes!!

I have found that nut oils are very common in skin care as well as cosmetic products. I would be on the lookout for peanut oil, almond oil, sesame oil, and brazil nut oil.

wow...I am surprised this hasn't come up sooner with it being Summer.
I think I had forgotten how many sun tan lotions I am allergic to.....in fact, sadly I don't use any these days.
I react to PABA, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and sometimes aloe.
Never thought of them as having a relationship to the nut....but they certainly are related! These never gave me anaphalaxis, but a very awful rash and swelling.
My mother has special kind prescribed to her to avoid all of these.

It's funny to see this here today. Just yesterday my daughter wanted to put it on herself (Bannana Boat Baby Block)so I put a little in her hand and she put it on then scratched her eye. When it got into her eye, her eye swelled up. I've used it before with no problem on the skin.

I was talking to another mom the other day at the pool what block she uses as her daughter is soooooooooo white and is out in the sun all day AND was from Florida. I forget what she uses (she has to import it from Florida to NY) but she said banana boat products used to make her no allergies child's eyes swell too. I don't think its due to nuts, probably some chemicals they use. as i said before, we have never had any problems on the skin.

I have spent about $300 trying to find a sunscreen for my daughter. This year other parents of multiple allergic kids told me to use Banana Boat. We again had severe rashes. I think its time to give up for me anyways and settle without.

We've been using Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Bunblock (SPF Rating of 17) for years with no problems. This week we've been using Coppertone Kids Spray 'n Splash Sunblock Lotion with no problems. I have seen nut oils in other suntan lotions, so I've told my PA child not to use anyone else's suntan lotion.

Try and get one prescribed! I too have been in combat with every kind. Now that I am in DC....it rains every day, that I never see the sun! But........mom is still in Arizona....and she gets a prescription one.......good luck!

Does anyone know of a kids sunblock that doesnt cause eczema flare ups? I usually dont use any on my PA son (he is only 18 months). But as he gets older, he is wanting to spend more time outside. We recently spent three weeks on vacation in california and used water babies because i heard it was the most gentle, but his poor skin was aweful.Any suggestions?

I have always had trouble with sunscreens and my skin reacts to most soaps, fragrances and detergents. My dermatologist has recommended Ombrelle, which is PABA, fragrance and colourant free and I have been able to tolerate it fairly well although I only use it when I know I will be in the sun for an extended period (something I usually avoid anyway as the sun causes my eczema to flare).
Ombrelle is made by L'Oreal.
