What fruits and vegetables are safe to give with a peanut/nut and sesame seed allergy child. Very new to this! Thanks

Thank you for your question. Taking care of a child with a food allergy can prove stressful, especially when they need to avoid multiple allergens. It’s important to know what to look for when you start introducing your child to new foods. The best course of action would be to consult your doctor as each case is different. Each child reacts differently to certain fruits and vegetables. But this information might also help.
For starters, doctors recommend that when you recommend new solid foods, you allow three to five days between each new food tasting. Between this time, you should watch for child closely for any possible symptoms. Consult with your doctor to come up with a feeding plan that is appopriate for your child. Some symptoms of a fruit allergy include rashes where the food came in contact with the child’s mouth and hives, nausea or vomiting. Other symptoms might include difficulty breathing or wheezing. If you child shows multiple, serious symptoms, call 911 immediately. Some of the most common fruits that can cause allergic reactions include apples, kiwi, tomatoes, strawberries, limes and lemons. According to the AAAI, a study regarding fruit allergies found that people who had an allergic reaction to strawberries could also be allergic to cherries and grapes. These fruits belong to the same Rosacea family. So if your child has a reaction to strawberries, you might want to avoid the other fruits. You can find out more about strawberry allergies here.
Again, the best course of action is to consult your doctor first and watch your child to see if they have allergy symptoms when trying a new food.

Apart from Almonds, Cashew, Pecans, Brazil nuts, Pistachios, Hazelnuts, Macadamia nuts, Chestnuts and Walnuts, you can go for any food. Fruits and vegetables are safe otherwise unless you have allergic reaction to any.

Generally fruits and vegetables are safe for peanut, nut, and sesame allergies but kids can develop other allergies. There are fruit allergies and intolerances to certain fruits so I would take it slowly with fruits. I would try one type of fruit for a few days and see how your child reacts. If there's no reaction, then you know that fruit is safe for them to eat. Also, make sure it's fresh fruit. Canned fruits can be packaged in a facility that contains peanuts and nuts so there's a high risk for cross contamination. In general, if you stick with fresh fruits and vegetables you should be safe.
