We have gotten the original oreos in the past for my PA son and he has been fine, but I saw recently they make a peanut butter filled oreo... wondering if original oreos are still safe. I may call in and ask, but just curious if any of you have called already or looked into this yet. http://www.snackworks.com/products/product-detail.aspx?product=4400002541

Answer: Question of the Week: Answered!
Every week, PeanutAllergy.com answers one of the questions posted in our community.
Our Answer:
Thank you for reaching out to our community with your concern.
Finding a snack food your child can eat can be a real challenge, especially as more and more manufacturers integrate snack food varieties that contain some form of peanut. There is the worry of cross-contamination, which can be a scary situation for parents and kids alike (as you can see from these stories). The stress and anxiety that comes with a new peanut product is quite common, and many parents like yourself have taken action when it happens, as you can see here.
In order to find out about the new peanut butter Oreos, we headed straight to the source. According to Mondelez International (the parent company for Oreo, Ritz, Chips Ahoy!, and a few others), the company “do[es] not have dedicated lines for all...products,” while they do clean and sanitize their equipment before changing to a new product. They say, “We build these cleaning procedures into our safety systems to make sure there is no carryover from allergens; for example when switching from nut-containing products to ones without nuts.”
We also took your question to our peanut allergy community on Facebook; many of the people there found no fault with Oreo even since the introduction of peanut butter filling. You can read their comments here.
Of course, as a parent, the ultimate decision of what your child should eat it up to you. Make sure you discuss the situation with your child so that he or she can take part in managing his or her food allergy, and work together to come to a conclusion. Maybe you trust that Oreos are safe, maybe you find another snack food, maybe you start making snacks at home (we’ve got some great ideas for the latter)!
We hope this information is helpful. Take care!

I've got a peanut allergy and I've never had any trouble with Oreo's. You can always call if it would make you feel comfortable. ????

I've never had a problem with Oreos but I understand your concern especially with the peanut butter Oreos. Cross-contamination is always a concern but knowing that they have separate lines for all of their products is very comforting.
