Hey.. I'm 18 years old and I'm going on my first date type thing with a guy. I'm extremely excited but anxious because of my severe peanut allergy. We have arranged to meet in a coffee shop (I will not drink/ eat anything due to other medical issues) and then go for a walk.
I have told him that I have a peanut allergy and that it would be ideal for him to not eat peanuts before/while with me. And I will remind him the day/night before also.
If anyone could answer the questions below I'd really appreciate it.

1) Should I inform him about how to use my Epi-Pen?
2) Is it safe for him to put his arm around me/hug (I'm not planning a kiss!) I'm thinking of peanut dust..

Any advice would be very very much appreciated. I'm trying to calm my nerves!

*EDIT: Is it weird/too much to send him a little fact sheet about peanut allergies and how allergic reactions can occur?

That is so exciting for you to be embarking into the dating world. I totally understand how much more nervous you would be due to your food allergy. I think a hug should be fine. How well do you know him already? Have you been friends previously to this date? If so then yes I would think you can give him the info and training on the epi pen. If not then I wouldn't want to overwhelm him too quickly. Since you have already told him you are allergic and asked him not to eat peanuts before the date and he agreed that is a good sign. If he asks you to explain more about your peanut allergy during the date than that is good. If he seems closed off to that discussion then he just might not be the one for you.

Good For you! I think a hug is fine. I also wouldn't overwhelm him with the epi use or send him info about it before hand.... If he is curious he will ask. Let him know you appreciate him not having any peanuts before your date. This date should be about getting to know each other and seeing if you like the same things.... I shouldn't revolve around your allergy. Have a great time!
