My PA daughter is to receive her first Holy Communion (Catholic) next month. We are concerned about potential cross contamination. What are reasonable accommodations to ask for?

Hi there, my first time posting here. My now 18 year old daughter had her first communion long ago, and we simply went into the church office and told them we needed to know EXACTLY what was in the communion wafers and WHY. They were awesome with it and her first communion went off without a hitch.
I am also a nurse, so, after long careful consideration, we have decided to forgo any further communion due to the wine. They only wipe off the chalice between people and THAT terrifies me! Not worth the risk and I hope God understands.
I should also mention that my daughter was a student at the Catholic School when she received her first communion, so everyone knew who she was.
How do they do the wine where you are? This does make me sad, but merely wiping off something (and reusing it a zillion times during communion) seems to be asking for trouble. What are you thoughts?

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! This was my first post too. Since my original post, we've made some progress. I spoke with our religious education teacher and priest. Our daughter will get her own chalice for first communion. At regular masses, she will forgo the wine.
Trying to convince them to have Eucharist ministers use hand wipes instead of sanitizer. Our daughter goes to catholic school and mass regularly. It'd be nice to know that is the protocol.

Great news! And having her own chalice for the first communion will make her feel like it is even MORE special. I take (and still do) every chance I can to make my daughter feel "special" instead of different. We had so many tears growing up and once I realized that we couldn't fix everything...she got her own treats, etc. and she actually thought that was pretty neat.
Best wishes!
