Hi I am the mother of an 11 yr old son that has an anaphylactic allergy to peanuts and tree-nuts. He had his first and only reaction when he was 5 months old, followed by excema and a diagnosis of asthma at 1 yr old. He carries with him at all times 2 epi-pens, benadyrl and inhaler. He also wears a medic alert bracelet that I feel is the most important thing that you can do for your child no matter what the medical issue. He has always known that he has an allergy and is very diligent to be careful. His younger brothers all know that he is allergic as we try to use all situations as a learning oppurtunity. We have found that it takes constant effort to continually educate family, friends and school staff. There are so many different scenarios that others don't take into consideration. Sometimes people are amazed at the thought and time that a food allergy takes, but when it is the safety of your child it comes easier.
We are finding that we are at the point where it is time to return to the site and stay proactive with the school and the community. So here we are to find some information and inspiration. . .good to be home.

It's good to hear a success story of how you son has navigated through his food allergies. My son is 4 and we were just diagnosed. I hope at 11 is he "with it" as your son apears to be :)
