I posted this here because I know a lot of us have considered Pizza Hut safe and today dh noticed a change to the allergen info on their website....they now state common equipment with peanuts for their red sauce (and pnut and tnut for white sauce)! I swear this wasn't there before. The website indicates it was updated in mid-december so maybe this is when it changed.
We are going to quit using PH due to newly discovered SFA so I probably won't get around to pursuing this any further with the company but for those of you who use PH, you may want to call and find out if it was maybe a typo or CYA!

WOW. We just had pizza hut pizza last weekend and my son who is PA/TNA ate a piece of cheese pizza.
Thanks for posting. My kids are crying about this now and so am I. Pizza Hut was one of our staples since we have so few choices around here. I guess we'll have to switch to dominos but they don't have a decent dining room so we'll always have to take it home. My kids were halfway through their bookit program coupons too so they won't be able to get their cards filled out the rest of the way. I can't believe they're doing this. Wow, thanks so much for posting this info.! I will cross Pizza Hut off our list of OK pizza places, and I'll pass this info. along to others.
It's also a good reminder that we can't assume places that once were peanut-free continue to be peanut-free, and that we need to check periodically.

YES! I was just telling dh it's better to learn this way than with a reaction. I can't imagine how many reactions this board has prevented people from having. I just read that Papa John's Pizza is safe-it says right on their nutrition page that they don't use peanut or tree nut in any of their products. They also don't have dine-in but at least we still have a couple of pizza options (plus Chuck e cheese which isn't close but I hope they continue to be safe for special occasions).

I really appreciate this posting as I had not yet heard- we'll be taking this off our very small list too- what a shame. Sounds like it is not just a consistency issue among franchises but also cross contamination. I wish the company had put out a more public notice (ie: to Faan) as have other companies regarding ingredient changes.

If you look further down, it also says the red pepper may also be contaminated with peanuts. WTH?! How do you mess up red pepper? This causes me to think this is a CYA.
They [b]did not[/b] have this peanut warning up earlier. I've gone several times in recent months after I (shellfish, sesame) had reactions and found the shellfish warning.
It's possible the peanut warning could by CYA, but I've had several reactions from Pizza Hut in the last year (the was because I thought it was not PH pizza I was eating), and I absolutely will not eat there anymore.
BTW--My reactions were minor but typical of minor for me--I had spaciness and some GI issues, but not like true ingestion. It was after the second reaction that I looked the info up. The third reaction I didn't quite believe the website, but my last, which was accidental, left me with no doubt.

I trust Pepsi's labeling and I would think if it was CYA they would have identified not just the red sauce, but the white sauce as being a risk. I also would have expected them to put out a notice via FAAN since they are so allergy responsible. So I do caution everyone to double check with the company before giving up on them...maybe it's a typo when they updated the site?
Like I said, I'm only giving up because they've always labeled the sauce as a Shellfish risk and we now have SFA to deal with as well....believe me we're crying here too. My one easy trusted meal each week. We only eat at pizza hut and burger king these days as far as restaurants go.
As far as the pepper, I bet it's packed by an outside condiment company that packs things like little jelly and peanut butter packs for restaurants...or somewhere pepsi just has no control over it and it is cya becuase they can't confirm it's safe.
