OK, I admit that I am thinking VERY far ahead, as my dd has one more preschool next year before even starting Kindergarten. But, we just found out about her PA a few months ago. Her big brother is PN/TNA.
In our elementary school, the children are allowed (and even encouraged) to keep an epi-pen on them at all times. DS uses one of the e-belts, and it works great. But, I was thinking that it's kind of "masculine" looking. He's fine with it, because he wears it under his shirt (which he never tucks in. lol).
But, does anyone have a suggestion of what my daughter might be able to use when she reaches Kindergarten. Eventually she will carry a purse, but what until then? Any suggestions/recommendations?? TIA!! :-)
Hi,
I actually remember reading a post of someone who knits holders for the epi. They are very girly. Maybe someone else remembers which forum it was in. I will try to do a search.
Good Luck!

If my son was a girl...lol....but I would use the Epibelt for a girl too. Looks like it just wraps around their waste and then is easily hidden by their shirt(do they make a pink belt...maybe that would help??). I'd be curious what else there is out there(other then a pouch and such...but could be laid down and forgotten).
I was going to ask, what can I say to my son to help him not be afraid to carry his??? I would LOVE to get an Epibelt and just have him wear it under his clothes....but when I bring it up he gets this look of fear and says "no way". He's just 6. Any ideas to make it not-so-scary?? Thanks too!!

DD actually feels safer wearing hers. I introduced the idea that it is kind of like a seat belt. You wear a seat belt "just in case" of an accident. If there is an accident, it will keep you from being seriously injured. The epi belt is like a seat belt for people with peanut allergies. You wear it "just in case" of a reaction.
Make sure your son tries the trainer and show him how the epipen is inside a plastic tube so it can't stick him by accident or fall out. Make sure he understands that you don't expect him to use it on himself until he's much older, even when he is wearing the epibelt.
You can also get some kid books/videos about PA. The characters in the stories wear their medicine pouches/epibelts.
I hope this helps! We went thru the same thing at first--DD is a very emotional, sensitive kid. Now she is happy to wear it and is upset if she forgets it.

There is Medipouch

They are cute and very comfortable to wear. Not very rugged, though. After DD wore holes thru her Medipouch, I started making them myself from fabric she chose. The one I made most recently was the easiest. I let her pick out a girly zippered pencil case from Borders bookstore. I bought a black webbing belt with a buckle on it from REI and I just sewed the pencil case onto the belt with my sewing machine. Voila! Does anyone know where to get an epi-pen holder that clips on to a waistband? DS doesn't like the epi-belt. We have one that hooks onto a belt, but he rarely wears a belt, and some of his pants don't have beltloops. I would love one that has a clip, like on a cellphone holder.

It looks like the ana-tote has some sort of clip on the back.

Momcat-You should start a business---I love your DD's epipen carrier! I don't sew, but maybe I can find someone to sew the belt to a pencil holder for me.

All of those are similar to what we already have. It needs either a belt or beltloop to attach to. I'm looking for something that will clip onto a waistband with no loops, like when he wears sweatpants.

Check out the ana-tote in detail. Click on the image on the page I linked to. It says, "When a child wears an Ana-Tote, adults will always know exactly where to locate the auto-injector during an allergic reaction. The clip, a feature unique to the Ana-Tote, enables it to be attached to clothing - even when not wearing a belt. There is an I.D. tag on the inside.
When attached to a belt: both the elasticized bands and clip on the Ana-Tote provide a very secure mount. Ana-Tote is very versatile and can be worn hanging down from a pocket or belt, or it can be worn across the waist. "
