Very frustrating- there should be a school nurse at every school. It would take so much more of the stress off the teachers as well-to know they have someone there to help in an emergency. I know that our public kindergarten/elementary in my district only has a nurse there 3 days a week- the other days it's a "medicine aide" (not sure what qualifications they have) or the secretary who gets any medicine out of the nurse's office when needed, including EPI's! (We have a year and a half before DD is supposed to start-I've been checking options)
It is funny, when we lived in Missouri there was a full time nurse in our elementary school and here in Michigan there is NO school nurse at all. If you look at the chart it looks like it should be the opposite of that.
The nurse is only at one of our schools on Thursdays and there are parent volunteers (not RN's) at the other school.
