I just came from a meeting at the YMCA. My son will be going to Day camp there several weeks this summer. They have decided to go "peanut free". I thought I would put together some lunch Idea's to give to the parents to help them get past the " my child only eats peanutbutter" thing. The lunches have to be something that doesn't need to be heated. ( it is camp so no refridge or microwave. Any thoughts?)
My favorite is Pilsbury cressant rolls. I slice it long ways and put s couple of slices of cheese an warm inthe micro wave to melt the cheese before I pack it.
Or Ham and cheese sandwich
Cream cheese and Jelly sandwich.
any other ideas? what are your favorites ( i need some new ideas too)

Since we always hear the "my kid only eats Peanut Butter for lunch" thing, we have found some success in mixing it up....recommending that they have their child eat the pb at home (and wash up at home and also at the camp...good policy to recommend). Then, for lunch they could do a breakfast thing, like cereal or a bagel with cream cheese, even a waffle if a microwave is available. It is still pretty nutritious and give the parents who are very focused on pb for lunch a new perspective.
*cream cheese and turkey is good.
*bagels and cream cheese
*turkey and pepperoni sandwiches(or pita pockets...my kids fav's)
*wheat thins with cream cheese(spread or to dip)
that's all I can think of. My youngest 2 have milk allergies so I often pack them just a plain turkey sanwich or chix nuggets/strips when we eat lunch with their brother. I'll keep thinking

Sidney-8 (beef and chocolate, grasses, molds, weeds, guinea pig & asthma)
Jake-6 (peanut, all tree nuts, eggs, trees, grasses, weeds, molds, cats, dogs, guinea pig & eczema & asthma)
Carson-3 1/2 (milk, soy, egg, beef and pork, cats, dog, guinea pig and EE)
Savannah-1 (milk and egg)
What brands of cream cheese and turkey do you guys use?
left over pasta with or w/o sauce, pasta salad, hamburger, burrito with chopped meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and salsa, cheese, chicken, turkey, or ham sandwiches, bagel and cream cheese, pepperidge farm cinnamon swirl with cream cheese, cold pizza, yogurt, pudding, spaghettio's or soup in a thermos, hard boiled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad, any fish. Cereal in a container and a cold thermos with milk. To my amazement my son will eat chopped meat cold so the hamburger has worked well for us lately. Sorry for the egg or milk type suggestions. Not sure what your allergy concerns entail.

For the longest time, when DS was little, we used cream cheese and jelly.
He likes just plain cheese sandwiches now (I don't get this, but I don't question it, either).
Sometimes I'll send him with the fixings for a bean taco--soft tortilla (a tostada could work well--we use Mission for both), refried beans (DS also likes refried black beans), shredded lettuce, shredded cheese. He builds his own (or you could prewrap it in a tortilla to make it easier.
DS has enjoyed a frittata sandwich for lunch (great way to pack veggies into protein). We pack a slice of leftover frittata between bread.
All of these things are fine with a cold juice box as the thing that keeps them cool. I guess you can freeze juice boxes (right?? we never do) and that can be used to keep things cold enough.
DD used to love "snack lunches". I gave her an small asssortment of snacks, mostly healthy, but with some kind of treat. So she would have some kind of fruit, maybe some crackers, maybe some dry cereal (a kind she liked to eat by the handful), maybe some cheese and/or pepperoni. Basically whatever we had that she liked, I would give her a liitle of, little of that.

snack lunches -- thats what we can call them -- that is what we do for my son also -a combination of - cheese, crackers, pepperoni, fruit, a granola bar, applesauce, sugar free pudding, sometimes a jelly butter sandwich, etc.
i also like the idea of packing a breakfast lunch - i might need to try that....
Thank you all. These Idea are great. Camp doesn't start for a fe weeks so If you think of anything lwt me know! I will start to put a packet together.
Thank you!
