and failed it miserably, w/ a negative RAST. He required benadryl, epi, then more benadryl; this from less than 1/2 a cupcake. It's been a long day. I'm actually going to take a break from the board; just can't do the allergy discussion thing for now. If anyone has a pressing question about the Duke peanut study (from the Research section) my email is in my profile and I'll try to give you a coherent answer. Not today, though, and maybe not tomorrow. But soon.

Sorry, Melissa. That's tough to have your hopes raised and then dashed. Hope he's none the worse for wear after the challenge.
I wasn't clear though so I'm hoping you'll clarify if you're still reading: was the egg challenge related to the Duke study? Were they giving egg too, or was it just coincidental that his RAST levels dropped? Did the doctor have any thoughts on a negative RAST/positive challenge?

Oh Melissa, I am so sorry. I really feel for you and for your DS. It must have been very frightening for both of you. I know the Duke study is only for PN, and this was not in any way associated. I'll send some prayers your way. Remember, He doesn't give us any more than we can handle.
God Bless,
Bridget

OMG! Wow! I am sorry for you both. I never would have expected it to go that way.
How much did this shake up your son? Was it his first epi? I am really sorry...
