I just emailed them as well. I hope many will email because we LOVE these! They're one of the few prepackaged treats that I will allow my son to eat.
Thanks for this info- I e-mailed as well
I don't think DS has ever had moonpies. I'm not that familiar with them (something about them did not endear me to them as a child). Are the vegetarian? Can someone look at their label for the word "hydrolzyed animal protein?" DS refuses to eat Ding Dongs, so if they're not vegetarian, he wouldn't touch them, but I'd love to get some for him while they're safe if they are veg.
Most Gas City's I've been in have Moonpies. Our local one carries several varieties. Then there is the Stop and Shop in Delphi. It appeals to the river rat in me.

The protein is soy-derived, so you'd be okay there. But they do contain gelatin.
Ah, thanks. For some reason he's decided he will eat gelatin, although I have not figured that out, and DH and I have decidely been against pushing for consistency (just because we're a**l about consistency, not because we want him to be vegetarian--we're not. With our personalities we'd likely say, but if X, kiddo, then Y!!).
Sidebar: Okay, so we even had a ceasar salad at Maggiano's, and I made a comment about how it tasted "authentic"--meaning too fishy for me. And DS kept saying how much he loved it, how DH should make one just like this at home for him. He needed vegetables that day, he'd already eaten a good bit of his salad before I discovered how "authentic" it was, and he loved it. What was I to do?

Back to Moonpies. I think I'll look for some--and ask him if he's still okay with gelatin. It sounds like we're good on these until 2008. Of course, is it cruel to introduce something that will be taken away eventually? I'll have to ponder that.
just emailed them, I am not even bothering to stockpile, they don't deserve my $ now. I told them in my email that they just lost a HUGE consumer base in the peanut allergic community, and they can count on a dip in sales.

While I was very happy to discover that they were proudly peanut safe and bought a case as a result, am I really the only one who thinks they taste pretty much like sludge dipped in petroleum by-products? DD ate one and never asked for another. DS won't touch them. DH says they bring back bad memories of his childhood in the south.
Bleah.
