Well...he didnt even get to the food challenge.
They did another SPT for peanut and it whelted up.

Dr said he has people who react like that and eat peanut butter all the time, but thought it was better to be coservative.

DS's last rast was .81 (June 07) which is why the Dr suggested the oral challenge.

I'm not "disappointed" b/c he didnt pass, I'm more "disappointed" b/c I thought he was going to pass, if that makes sense. No reactions, RAST low, etc.

I probably could have pushed the issue, the dr asked me what I thought and I said "I dont know". But I didnt want him to have a reaction, so I let it go.

I guess we'll hold off until next year and see where the RAST is then, and see if the Dr suggests another food challenge. I think I might opt to have the SPT at the local office next time. I had to get up at 6:00 and have him there at 8:00, just to find out he couldnt have the food challenge. I dont know right now, I probably have 10 months to think about it.

so sorry. How old is your son btw?? Hopefully, in the next year or two, his numbers will fall even more and a challenge will be okay to do. I know most of us want our children to outgrow this, but it is okay if they don't, remember that. Sounds like you are doing a great job too(no reactions)!!! Wish I could say that. But I know this is very disappointing, but it doesn't change anything either, right. HUGS, chin up

Be thankful they didn't go straight to the food challenge and have him have a "full blown" reaction.
The whole idea of a food challenge is beyond my wildest dreams (or scariest nightmare)
Sorry it was not what you were hoping for.
Have a blessed day,
Bridget

I understand what you mean about the disappointment being with your expectations. I had the same thing last time DS was tested. I don't know why I hoped he was outgrowing; it just set me up for an emotional let down later.
I won't go into the next test the same way, though.
((hugs)) to you and to your little guy.
