hi Adele - they are Canada specific...all the US Quaker granola bars (minus some of the cereal-type bars) have a may contain, contain, or same equip warning.

Yes, it was a decision made by Quaker Canada.
Maybe Quaker USA would consider this in the future as well?

I wrote and asked them. I didn't get a canned email back, which was nice. They said they understand the situation and would like to provide peanut/tree nut free bars eventually, and are watching how the Canadian effort goes, and are considering how to have a pn/tn free facility.

I too was very excited about this new product - I didn't beleive the first person who told me about them. They are very yummy, hopefully the US Quaker will follow.
If anyone is in Minot or area I'll bring some when I come in September!

During the last few weeks of school all the stores in my neighbourhood were sold out of the peanut-free - but still had loads of the other stuff.
I have found a definite improvement in life with these bars. My son's school bans peanut/nuts - so for parties, treats, whatever, parents always send in Nestle peanut-free chocolate. (Well, other then one parent who sends in Chapman's Ice-cream sandwiches, lol) Anyway, all the parents seem very happy to have a non-chocolate alternative to send to school. Some of the Chewy's have chocolate chips, but it's not as bad as an entire chocolate bar.
I can't find the Quaker Chewy granola bars that your talking about....All of the boxes I see say the normal "made in a facility that process nuts....."

That's because the lucky people who have these are in Canada. I'm guessing you are in the US. THose Canadians get all the good stuff!

I wrote to Quaker also. These bars are made in a peanut-free facility but not a tree-nut free facility.
Anyway a great alternative, which I think taste even better is the "NoNuttin" bars.
They are also made in Canada but you can order them by the case. Right now ,I believe they are offering free shipping with certain purchases.
Even my non-food allergic child LOVES them which is so great because they both eat them.
