Is that okay. I've read a lot if info on here about children with PA & TNA & other FA. My concern is that each of my young children will not eat any nuts or PN butter. Is that okay? Will that cause them to become more sensitive to nuts? They have all eaten nuts before I realized that I was allergic to PN & TN. They have never had any reactions.

My concern is that with them not being exposed to nuts & then with my history, will that increase their chances of PA & TNA or any FA?

My question is how should I handle this?

I've never had ana reactions, but I do get hives & rashes on my face.

Thanks for any input.

What are their ages? Are they not eating them out of concern for you or because they are worried about being/becoming allergic?
We don't eat peanuts unless we're away from DS--like out of town--because we don't want to risk a reaction. I do eat tree nuts if I think it is safe to do so (he's not TNA).
I don't know how to advise you, though. I guess if they're old enough and your concern for their developing PA/TNA outweighs your concern about your own reaction, then you might feel comfortable with their having them.
I am shellfish but not fish allergic but haven't been having fish because of cross contamination concerns. I'm terrified of developing a fish allergy since I never eat it, so I kind of see where you are coming from. I don't know if it's irrational, and I've seen conflicting recommendations.
It's hard to know what to do.

I don't think they will become more allergic to it. I think it is wonderful that they are sensitive to your allergy. They can always eat it when they are older. Some people say the older they are the better. I understand if you are worried that they already are exposed to it and may go a long time without eating it. Maybe ask your allergist what he/she thinks about that. My son won't eat watermelon and bananas because I'm allergic. I'm afraid he is not getting the vitamins he needs. He doesn't eat much. Very picky. He won't even eat watermelon flavered candy sometimes because I'm allergic. I tell him it won't harm me if he eats it because it's not like a peanut reactions. Sometimes he will eat banana flavored ice pops. Maybe because I'm his eating buddy because we are both allergic to peanuts/tree nuts. I won't eat sesame because he is allergic to it.

Thanks for your replies. My dd's are almost 8, almost 6 & 3. I'm sure that they won't eat nut because of concern for me. I just want to make sure that with my allergy increasing their risk of onset allergy & combine that with them not eating nuts, that it could turn into a problem.
I don't know that if when they do try to eat nuts, if I should check it on their lips or even how to do this.
Thanks for any input.

If you are not sure and it's been a long time if they haven't eaten nuts they can always be tested first if that would make you feel more comfortable. I think I would be worried about this also.

Hi Kimmo. I developed my allergies before my youngest son was born. PB has been banned from my home. I was concerned about him possibly being allergic. After all, he vomited whenever he got even a small taste of pb. (Of course, he vomited whenever he didn't like something. )
He was tested about a year ago. No environmental or food allergies.
*******
He did eat *may contains* his whole life. I don't ban them from my home. Currently the only peanut butter that he eats is the Smarties chocolate bar, about once or twice a year. He still hates all other pb.

Thanks. I think I'll just keep watching them. I have never noticed any FA with them. Always did what the dr. recommended about when to give what food.
I tend to give them organic cereals now, they are processed in plants where nuts & TN are handled...may contain..& etc.
We've all been fine, so I suppose they are still getting exposure which is fine.
thanks again.
