So it seems that every birthday party we go to now has ice cream in addition to cake.
I can make the ice cream, but the last party we went to posed a new problem, All the other kids had their *CUTE* individual ice cream cups (store bought), but my daughter had her home made ice cream in a boring clear Ziploc container...sigh. She was quite upset as she wanted something fun like all the other kids had. I thought finding some fun disposable ice cream cups would be easy, but I cant find anything....anyone out there know where to get something like this ? I know it sounds like Im totally spoiling her, but if she at least feels excited about eating her home made party food she wont feel like she's missing out on something. It was bad enough when the party favor was a big old cookie and we had to give it back. Not fair.

I make my own ice cream for my son, but so far I haven't ha dto bring any ice cream to a party for him (he's only 2.5).I did buy little ice cream cups that look somewhat like cones from orientaltrading company. They came with little ice cream cone spoons. They are not disposable, but they are cheap!

I just wante dto add that when I was making ice cream for my son's 2nd birthday, I tried dto find those little disposable paper cups with the flat lid and little wooden stick. I had no luck.
That's how I ended up buying the little plastic dishes from Oriental Trading.
When I made ice cream for my older son's (non pa) class's Thanksgiving party at pre-school (no milk allergies there)), I used those little glad tossables or whatever they are.
Thanks Nutforce - I'll take a look at the Oriental Trading ones you mentioned - at least if they're fun looking it will be an improvement on what Im already using. My daughter is only 2 but ice cream seems to be the new "trendy" thing to have at parties. Im just glad my PA daughter doesn't have a milk allergy, that would be a tough one to deal with.
Are Hoodsies available in your area? They are premade cups of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, made by Hood, and I think most here consider them safe. I have used them for parties many times.

I Just looked on the Hood ice cream website and found this re allergens in their Q&A section:
Q My son has potentially deadly peanut and nut allergies. Are Hood Ice Cream procucts safe for him to eat? Are peanut/nut containing products made on the same production line? Are there any other flavors that would be safe?
A We have an allergen control program in our ice cream plant. However, we do NOT have a dedicated line for nut containing products. We recommend that you consult with your doctor regarding the risk.
Im not comfortable with this, so will see if I can find the individual Philly Swirls tomorrow - I totally forgot about them !

I'm big into recycling. Can you ask for these cups from another family and wash them thoroughly?
What about the little applesauce cups (i.e. Mott's) and recycling those into ice cream cups?
Just a thought...
Maybe you could use paint pens or colored Sharpies to decorate the outside of the containers you already use.

My son has eaten A&p (i think) brand of ice cream cups, We actually havent had them in about a year though so you should recheck. I think we have used shop rites too.
this would be a stretch, and I'm not sure how much free time you have on your hands...
You could buy the waxy (read waterproof)origami (or other) paper and make the "water cup"...it's actually pretty easy. Put icecream in that?
