Any room left in your neighborhood?
hblmom, lots of room left in my neighbourhood. Not sure about redtruck's.
I'm still waiting for him to visit my neighbourhood so I can take him out for a falafel. (with the understanding that I know he is a happily married man and that since my DH also likes falafels, he might join us. I am SO happy for all of you in Toronto! (I can't even get ONE children's museum in the Chicago area to do this). Just out of curiosity (and maybe immigration purposes ), does Canada ban nut products from the schools? I
Sara M., welcome!
No, Canada doesn't ban peanut/tree nut products from schools country wide.
First it's a Province by Province thing (if the Province has a policy re anaphylaxis). Then, within the Province, it's a school board district by school board district thing.
In Ontario, where I live, a PA child has the *right* to a "peanut free" classroom, which is *good* if you want that and the children are eating in their classrooms (which my PA son did until 4th Grade - along with everyone else in the class).
You'll really find a broad mix of schools - "peanut free", "peanut safe", "reduce the risk".
The one my children currently attend, in Toronto, is called "reduce the risk", but to be honest with you, I don't see it being followed very well.
My son's classmates aren't supposed to bring peanut products in their lunches/snacks, but it does happen.
So, no, we're not a "peanut free" nation.

Thanks for the info! God, would it be SO hard for people just to ban nuts from school?! I think I'm really losing it, 'cause I'm starting to think nuts should be banned from the world (that and when I see a Mr. Peanut commercial on TV I actually want to physically harm him). Yep. Definitely losing it....

No problem. Better to have things posted twice then not at all.
Sara M., that's okay, I often have the same thoughts about Mr. Peanut. Or, there was the time I threatened to EpiPen the Pillsbury Dough Boy and send him to Pillsbury but.....
