We just flew Spirit round trip to New York from San Francisco. I called prior to the flight and the customer service rep told me they do not serve nut products. I felt comfortable enough not to ask for an announcement going out. On the way back we were delayed for a couple of hours on our layover. Miles is learning to walk and so he and I walked all around the gate area where he chatted up people. One lady had two kids and she asked if she could give Miles a ritz peanut butter cracker- I explained that he was deathly allergic but thank you for your kindness. He crawled to a woman sitting next to the gate desk and was interested in her salad that had nuts, again I pulled him away and explained the situation.
I never told a gate attendant or a flight attendant about the allergy. When we boarded the lead flight attendant made the announcement that a passenger was highly allergic to peanuts and to not eat any peanut products they brought on board. Either there was another PA person on board or the attendant at the gate overheard me talking about it. Either way I am extremely grateful as the peanut butter lady was in the aisle across from us.
milosmom, I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience with Spirit. did they serve any food or snacks during your flight? I think I remember reading a post from a while back where someone stated that they served banana nut muffins or something like that. Just wondering if maybe they had changed their menu. Thanks.
They offered snacks to purchase but very few people actually bought anything. I don't recall seeing any muffins. Hope that helps.
I am also curious about this.
I called them & notified them of DD allergies to both tn&pn.
The agent on the phone was actually quite rude--ruder than I expected.
I asked to talk to her supervisor.
The attitude of both were rude. I hope I don't experience the same thing with the flight crew.
