Just an update on Duncan Hines as of
4/26/06. Called them just now to double check on a cake mix I had bought for my PA son's birthday. The label says,"contains wheat, milk". I called to double check on cross contamination issues. I was told not to use this as it is run on a line that has nuts. The customer service rep was not very friendly and told me that they don't label for cross contamination because they are not yet required to do so by law - sometime in 2006 they will label. I asked when, and she said she didn't know- sometime in 2006. I haven't used their mixes in years but thought they would probably be labeling correctly by now. Wrong! Anyway-- just a heads up to make sure you double check with them before you use their products. Good luck in finding someone who is friendly.

Hi, just wondering if this is US or Canada Duncan Hines we are talking about?
I'm assuming since you are talking about new labelling laws that it is US, but wanted to double check.
Thank you

According to Allergen Inside "We found 23 other products Made By Duncan Hines that either contain or have been processed in a facility with: wheat, soy, egg, milk, whey, sulfites, tree nuts, peanut, butternut & walnut." I stay away from Duncan Hines. There are too many other brands that are peanut-free and processed in a peanut-free facility. I use Betty Crocker but I always check the label before I buy it.

I am talking about U.S. The cake mix was a Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Fudge Marble -- but I'm not even sure I told her specifically what kind of cake mix. She said almost immediately that I should not use it. (I also noticed on their web site that they have a recall on a brownie mix.) I am just going to stay away from anything Duncan Hines for now. I have asked for someone to call me back but after my conversation with the rep, I doubt that will happen.

I've never trusted duncan hines and I don't use pillsbury cake mixes either. I always stick with betty crocker even though they don't always have the flavor my kids want at the store.

I love the Betty Crocker chocolate chip muffins and their cake mixes. Betty Crocker is the only brand that I trust. I worry about cross-contamination with the other brands.
