you read my mind! I only use the "baby" eggplant and serve it with marinara sauce and parmesan (snow cheese to my cubs).

[b] Corvallis Mom, where do you get the bulgar for your tabbouleh? I miss having it, but I don't trust bulk bulgar at the health food store, and I think that Near East is a "may contain". I'd love to know your source, or if you substitute something else for bulgar.
Thanks!

(Hmmmm.. well, this is the "bad Mommy" thread, isn't it?)
Our bulk foods manager checked it for me. Claim is that it is NOT made by Near East and shares a line with sesame, but not TN/PN.
We DO buy it in bulk. I don't know the brand, but since we've eaten it for years I don't worry about it.
And before anyone gets too shocked at my cavalier attitude, remember that we developed our comfort with bulk foods back when we literally had NO CHOICE because of extensive MFA. So we learned the hard way that it isn't really any more risky than shared lines that are cleaned. At least, the top-feed bins aren't. We don't buy what gets "scooped" if that makes sense. And we never buy anything that is near nuts.
We have NEVER been burned by bulk foods in all the years we've done this (6 yr). Anything that was contaminated proved to be so at the manufacturing level (3x). We've been burned by bad labeling a lot more often. But as I said-- we're pretty fussy about what we'll buy this way.
OK I really hope none of you have 3 little ones at home like me because now I'm really feeling like a bad mommy! I thought this thread was going to be about guilt over feeding kids too many hot dogs!
I am finally getting back into the swing of actually cooking meals after an interstate move and having an infant before that, but everything I make gets rejected by some child or another. (What 3 year old rejects chicken soup because he doesn't like his noodles wet? LOL!) But my cooking doesn't compare to yours! I'm jealous! Can I come over for dinner too? Luvmyboys

this is missing something....(SNAP--AHA!)
It needs a runny poached egg on top. See, we had leftover Lipton Chicken Rice from last night. And a few greenbeans. I heated it up, threw some Jewel "Mexican Shredded Cheese" on top, (and a few pimento olives---don't know why in particular, just that it needed some salt--ahem, more salt) and then added a runny poached egg to it. Stirred it all up and called it: "BREAKFAST". Cubs had cinnamon toast.

Last night for dinner?
Sara/Meghan had a tuna fish sandwich.
Caitlin had Cream cheese (soy) and jelly
Did they have tortilla chips with them? Maybe.
Some strawberries and apples.
Soy milk (and milk) for drink.
No desserts.
Ann/I had a CPK (BBQ chicken) from the frozen foods section and some white wine.
Dessert was Friendlys Mocha Silk ice cream (light)

I'm such a schmo.
No problem, MB.... 10 yrs ago, I'd have agreed wholeheartedly... I can still taste good hollandaise on asparagus if I think about it. Eggs Benedict was always my all-time favorite restaurant breakfast. And quiche... I used to make a mean quiche. I don't recommend it with egg-replacer at all... LOL!!
MEAT. It's what's for dinner. (No meat fairy at our house. Princess knows all about the cow.) Dh is doin' beef ribs.
(*sigh* soooo not my thing. Oh well.)
(I) "what are we having with them?"
(HE) "Huh? With?" (wrinkles brow, thinking hard.) "Uh, Dipping sauce?"
(I) "Oh."
We also got a flat of blueberries today, which I always think I'll freeze or dry. But never do because we eat them all. Yes, I know. That is ten pounds of blueberries. I know. But when you each eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, well....
At least we're having something besides meat tonight.

as part of our weeklong (or more) celebration of my oldest cubs birthday (July 28), we had Porterhouse for........lunch. Both boys looked like fatted leopards eyeing a herd of gazelles, while knawing on the bones from the last kill, too stuffed to hustle for seconds.
Isabella just drooled all over my shirt. Every once in a while, she just *has* to nurse at the dinner table (why not? ) and the cubs take turns popping mouthfulls off my plate into my mouth.
