Does anyone know of a cracker that is sesame, peanut/nut free? And for those of you who are allergic to sesame...have you ever eaten Bremner wafers? They are peanut/nutfree but I just found out that they are run on same line as a sesame cracker. My son ate them recently and was fine. He has never had a reaction to sesame, and I do not recall ever giving him anything with sesame, but his RAST indicates that he is allergic to it. So we avoid it and don't buy anything that says "may contain" on it. But he safely ate the Bremner crackers and loved them. Now I am concerned that we might be taking a risk. Just wondered how other folks are handling sesame allergy - totally hands off?

My son is PA and sesame allergic. He eats Ritz crackers and Reduced Fat Wheat Thins. He loves the Wheat Thins. They are by Nabisco, which some people avoid, but we've never had a problem and he eats them a lot. He also used to eat Cheez Its and Pepperidge Farm cheddar goldfish, but he got tired of them.
Bremner is the only cracker in my comfort zone but I haven't purchased them for months only because she hasn't ask for the them. I failed miserably making crackers but missroben.com does have a mock goldfish pre-made craker mix that is okay. I am hoping that someone will com eout with a safe cracker soon. edwardsandsons.com sent me a huge list of pn/tn free items made in a seperate faciltiy but I can't bring it up at this minute so I will try to post it later if I can. They do have a safe ice cream cone though and are very allergy aware and can be found in many stores and health food stores. Maybe we should all e-mail enjoylifefoods.com. A few months ago I asked them if they wanted suggestions for future products and they said any inpu os appreciated. On another note, I don't give my PA DD direct sesame but I am not overly worried about is nt he senxe of cross contamination (knock on wood).
I'm not sure if it's the same in the US, but I called Christie in Canada, and they label *may contain* for peanuts/nuts and sesame. This is the first time in years that I've been able to eat crackers.
Previously, I did have an ana. reaction from cross contamination of sesame seed in crackers. I had a cell phone with me in a grocery store, and I called a company to find out if the crackers I was holding in my hand ran on a line with sesame seeds, and I was told no, so I bought them. The first night I ate them (and I ate a lot) I had an ana. reaction, but, since I had checked I was positive it couldn't be the crackers, so a few days later I ate them again. This time, I felt the reaction coming on after just 2 crackers so I stopped eating them and took benedryl. The next day (during business hours) I called the company again. This time the lady checked the identifcation (?) number printed on the box, and apparently that box was produced when the regular line was down for repair and it did run with sesame seeds.
When I called Christie, I checked if anything like that could happen with their crackers and I was told NO, any risk of x-contam. would be labelled.
As for eating *may contains* and not having a reaction, please keep in mind *may* does not mean *does*. Probably only the first few boxes run after the sesame seeds would actually contain the sesame seed protein. But, by eating *may contain* you do run the risk.
UFO's from Guiltless Gourmet. No hydrogenated oils, either. And yummy, to boot. I get them at Whole Foods.

glutensolutions.com e-mailed me back and said that some of their products are safe for pn/tn allergic. They have a search for foods on their site so you plug in the allergens you dont want and it brings up some foods that are safe. There are a few crackers that come up.
Also, Hol Grain crackers at health food store said that they are safe for pn/tn people.
The crackers that I use are the Manischewitz Tam Tam crackers.. The are peanut and nut free and my son loves them. they are so good .I call often to check the safety but I can't seem to find the number. The website has the info though Manischewitz.com Also everytime I call they are very allergy aware and very helpful. You can find tam tams next to the matza crackers in the grocery store. Hope this helps.. Kathy Ann
UFO's are made by Guiltless Gourmet.
As for the Tam Tams, Manishewitz has one of the best allergy/health info websites I've ever seen.
