Another child lost to a nut allergy.

I don't know if this is old or new.
Any info would be of help.

Synthia, found this on in the description, but the link no longer works so this is all the info it gives...
"Almost three years have past since Megan Morris died after suffering an allergic reaction to walnuts in a piece of candy she ate at North Oldham Middle School"

Twelve-year-old Megan Morris was
fanatical about avoiding walnuts, pecans
and any other tree nuts ever since she
suffered a severe allergic reaction to a
walnut brownie when she was younger.
According to her doctors, peanuts were
alright for her to eat, so when what were
described as peanut clusters were handed
out in class one afternoon, she "chowed
down" with the rest of her schoolmates.
An hour later, Megan was dead, the
victim of a tragic, avoidable allergic
reaction to what turned out to be a pecan

First reference I see that states dishwashers are enough to "kill" (sic) the allergen.

Do not assume that the dishwasher removes all the allergen!
After I was diagnosed with peanut allergy 24 yrs. ago and not knowing any better...I continued to let my kids eat peanut butter.
The knife from the peanut butter would go straight in the dishwasher.
One day I pulled "clean" dishes/silverware out of the dishwasher and there was a knife with peanut butter still on it.
Never had peanut butter in the house after that day.
Now, I hand wash with hot soap and water all my silverware before putting in dishwasher to remove "accidential" allergens.
