toomanynuts: what do you mean that you checked with your allergist??
I never heard of a doctor checking or suggesting a certain food company.

I sent an email. This is the only pretzel brand we buy so if they do this we won't be able to buy any plain pretzels at all.

Don't forget about Frito Lay "Rold Gold" Pretzels!
We have used these for years and they are great!

Sent my e mail. Even if they go ahead they should make the informed decision that they will lose customers.

Hi SF! Actually our Allergist can test any food that we bring to him as well as several of the other Allergist's that we know in our area. I am sure that most Allergist can't do it but it has been done. He also will recommend safe foods and safe companies if we are asking.

I just sent an e-mail as well. We eat these regularly - why can't they just leave them alone? Thanks for the heads up.

This is exactly my point! If they think they'll be making such a profit by adding a peanut product, why not borrow from it and build a separate facility. Then they won't lose all the food allergy consumers as well!
By the way, have any of you heard back from them? I haven't yet. I did, however, email FAAN and she said she'd get involved as well.

Just emailed again telling them they lost six customers, since we are switching to another brand.

toomanynuts - Did your allergist find the presence of peanuts in the pretzels? I have never heard of an allergist testing food. I would love to have that option!
I called about Rold Gold and they said their pretzels are safe. She said they would label if they were made in the same facility as peanuts. Has anyone else heard this? I also called Snyders and they said they had been manufacturing a peanut product for about 3 months. She seemed surprised that I was not thrilled with the idea and that I would no longer be using their products.
