Today I spoke with Debbie at consumer affairs at Snyder's who said that right now there are no nut products in their pretzels but this will soon change as they are adding a "peanut sandwich" (cracker?) to their line. [img][/img]
Although they will use separate production lines, all of their products are made in the same room. She said that this is on a trial basis. I expressed to her my sincere disappointment since we always have counted on Snyder's pretzels as being safe. I then went to my computer and sent a letter expressing this further and asking that they either reconsider this or consider a separate facility.

If you are familiar with Snyder's and want to try to prevent this from happening, please write to them and share with them your concerns:

Maybe, if enough people respond, we can make them rethink this!

Thanks for posting! We rely on this product and I am not happy to hear this news.
I just sent them an email and hope to hear a response from them soon. I will post back with any additional info.

I just responded too. Did she say this would be the case for all of their pretzels?

I believe I corresponded with this Debbie by email in June 2003. Even then, Snyders was making a peanut-filled pretzel, and I was asking about the possibility of cross-contact. At that time, Debbie told me that the peanut-filled pretzels were manufactured in a facility separate from other products. Something about the quality of her response made me feel that I should confirm this with her superordinate. I failed to do it, at the time, though. However, given your new information, I will contact Snyders, now.

She said that this would be affecting all of their products and that the production lines are all in one large room. Awesome job for those of you who emailed. Pass on the word. I would like to hit them with a ton of responses! [img][/img]

We asked our Allergist about Snyders pretzels and we had him check them for our DD (3) and he said no! When I spoke with Snyders I was told that they made the peanut filled pretzels on the same line. That was just 1 month ago. FYI....
