We also eat plain hershey kisses with no problem. I have called Hershey and was told if there is a chance of anything it would be labeled... So we feel ok enough to eat them every now and then.

I concur w/Erik. I'm in the U.S. and Hershey's/Cadbury is the only chocolate company that I trust right now for good labeling.

Hugs aren't safe? I thought that they were. I know that we purchased them in the past, and I did not read an allergy warning. Then again are we talking about safe for PA/TNA or just PA. My son is only PA.

I've eaten Hersheys hugs many times. I have never seen them with a peanut warning so I consider them safe.
I think I did see holiday Hershey hugs with a "may contain almonds" warning, but since I am PA only, I can still eat them and consider them safe for me.

My dd has TNA and PA. I thought that all nuts were unsafe for people with just PA too. The reason I thought this is because I've heard that nuts are processed in the same facility so supposedly an almond could be cross contaminated before it would go to Hershey. So I thought people with just PA still had to avoid tree nuts also.

I live in Minnesota and they had some strawberry kisses at a K-mart store.

I'm in the Chicago area and I've seen dark chocolate, strawberry, and the oh, so yummy caramel ones at Target.

I am PA only, and I usually do avoid tree nuts due to the cross-contamination. But I do eat products that say 'may contain tree nuts' as they shou;ldn't contain tree nuts, and even if they had a trace of tree nuts I am not allergic to them. As for the risk that may contain tree nuts may also contain peanuts, I don't consider it a risk in my case as it would be so unlikely the potential trace tree nut would also have been contamiminated with peanut traces. I went to the store today and looked at the ingredients on them again.
The dark chocolate had no may contain statement. I never checked them myself before only read they were unsafe.
The plain Hugs had no may contain statement. I checked these myself three weeks ago at the same store and it said may contain traces of almond. Why do you think it's different? I love white chocolate so we would like to have these. I just find it odd that it said it and now it doesn't.
When she had her scratch test the only treenuts they checked her for were almonds, walnuts, & cashews. The walnuts and cashews were very high. Her almonds came back with no wheal. Her allergist never said we should avoid almonds. It's all so confusing so we just keep her away from almonds too. So I don't know if it would be okay for her to have candy with almonds. ANy suggestions???

Hershey's is very good about labeling.. we've eaten dark, chocolate and caramel without incident. Go by the labeling in your area.
