We order grilled cheese a lot and have not had any problems. We do ask for white bread - just in case.
Congrats on passing the dairy. I remember how that opened up our world so much!

Just be careful they don't also make peanut butter sandwiches there. They could use the same knife to cut both the grilled cheese and the peanut butter sandwiches. Knife cross-contamination has caused a student to die many years ago here in Ontario.

We ordered a grilled cheese once and it was made with NUT bread. Just be sure to ask about the bread. This happened to us at a Cooker.

Also, make sure you inquire about the grilling surface that they use. For example, do they grill anything with nuts (i.e. nut encrusted fish or pancakes that contain nuts). You can request that they use a clean pan to make your child's grilled cheese.

We have been ok at all restaurants so far, I always scan the menu to make sure there are no nuts or peanut butter, than I talk to the server, so far no problem the peanut butter has always been in separate pkgs for us.
