this plan is for the parents of nonPA etc children, so they can understand that these are some of the steps that will be taken to protect children with life-threatening allergies, this is the part of the plan that *WE* (the nonFA parents)can help with so that *they* (the school) can accommodate *our* (the nonFA parents) needs as well. HOWEVER!!! if *WE* (the nonFA parents) cant appreciate that, and abuse *Their* (the schools)compromise, *they* (the school) will take the steps necessary to insure the safety of this child!!!
Don't they already have to do this?

is this how you feel about other dangerous weapons in schools?

What exactly are you telling these same people now? That you have flip flopped and see the danger for "themom" but you are still having pb kept at the schools?
Quote:The majority say "nobody's gonna tell me I cant send my kid to school with something that is healthy for them" and they still are sending it to school.
So would you say that this is just a control issue?
I think it's great that you are educating yourself about pa and wanting to help "themom". However, there is just something that I can't stop thinking about. You seem to have gotten yourself incredibly involved with this. What are YOU getting out of this?
If you had it your way, what would you want to see happen?

MommaBear, you are making this harder than it needs to be, you are reading WAY too much into it. (because you are thinking like a PA parent and not like the majority of others who dont even have a clue about this)

Actually, I'm thinking like a *Mother*, a *PA Parent*, a *Nurse*, and a human being.
If I am "making this harder than it needs to be, you are reading WAY too much into it."
then could some others be thought of as "reinventing a cheaper version of the wheel" and "failing to read the writing on the wall"?

Are parents doing it maliciously? well sure they are, but they will argue that they just wanted their childs lunch to be one they liked.
I even heard somebody suggest that all the parents get together and on a certain day send all their kids to school with PB sandwiches, PB & Crackers, reeses PB cups and any other thing that contains pb. I WAS HORRIFIED! I mean, I knew that in the beginning I was furious, but I never thought that! I walked up to them and introduced myself, they knew me from my initial article and figured I would be cheering them on! I told them different, and I told them about the plan I had been working on, and all they said was "so my kid can take peanut butter if I want them to? I could live with that."
Do these parents understand that NOW if they do this they will be obstructing the law with purposely causing intent to harm? or worse, possibly kill?
Quote:I want to difuse situations like that, and if the people here get their precious pb back as an option, it will calm things down considerably.
Is this what it is that YOU want?
I'm just trying to get a good and clear understand of this situation. Nothing more.

2. All parents are ASKED to please not send peanut butter to school as the residue is highly toxic to some children; However if you feel you absolutely MUST send it, your child will be asked to tell their teacher immediately upon arrival and they may not open their lunch box until they are in the special classroom provided for all children bringing peanut butter. To keep the rest of the school safe, this will be the only room in which peanut butter will be allowed and students will be required to wash their face and hands with

so, knowing what you say you know, will you be sending pb to school with your child? Just wondering about what example you desire to set and how it can contribute to defusing situations.............
