I have taken my PA son, who is now 6, to 2 different allergists. Neither one feel it is necessary to do a rast test as they feel that since he is positive on his skin test, then he is allergic and there is no need to do further testing. We live in Michigan. Is this a thing with Michigan allergists??

I live in Michigan, too. We've been to two different allergists and there was never a discussion about RAST testing. I'll have to ask the doc the next time we go.
Each allergist will favor a different set of tests depending on their experience, and the age of the child. Ours (Dr. McMOrris, from the University of Michigan), uses RAST tests, and did so on our two year old.
Our allergist does skin testing. I asked about CAP RAST tests and she was not opposed to it. She did tell me that not all insurance plans cover it but if I wanted it done she would be more than happy to make it happen.
