pWe had a wonderful experience at Red Robin on Saturday. The waitress was very helpful and checked all the ingredients in the food we were ordering for my son without even the slightest bit of hesitation. Usually it's like pulling teeth to get the wait staff to check for me. Also, they seem to be excellent with children. We rarely get to eat a whole meal out with our two year old!/p

We've felt pretty good about Red Robin in our area, too (Seattle area). It's usually where my multi-food allergic son chooses to dine for his birthday!
We were at Red Robin tonight and they have informed me that they do use peanut oil. I'm so mad. We've dined there 4 times in the past. Tonight my husband ordered the fish and thought it tasted "peanuty." We asked and they told us - there's peanut oil. I always thought it was funny that DS never touched his food there - thank goodness he didn't!
Maybe different locations use different things, but please check!
They do not use peanut oil at the Red Robin near us. We have been eating there on a regular basis for several years. You may want to double check and ask them to bring the box from the oil to show it to you.
The problem that we have run into at our local Red Robin is mixed information. I always email corporate via the website before we go to make sure ingredients/processes haven't changed. Yet when we get there the waitstaff will tell us the fries are no longer safe. If I ask for a manager or general manager they will tell us the same info as corporate.
We have had no problem with the fries at Red Robin but it is frustrating trying to get accurate/consistant info.

As I previously suggested, ask for them to either bring the oil container, box (whatever) out to you or ask if they can take you in the kitchen or to the kitchen doors so that you can read it yourself. This way, you will know for sure.
I've had to do this before because I would ask the waiter who would ask another waiter "Do we use peanut oil?" and the other person will say "I think so" or something along those lines. They don't really feel like checking because it might take them a minute or two and they are often stressed by having several tables that they are in charge of.
Our Red Robin states on their menu that they use vegetable oil for their fries. I was very pleased it was so easy to get the info.
I contacted Red Robin this week regarding the use of peanut oil. The response, in part, was the following:
"We cook with hydrogenated soybean oil. Red Robin does not use peanut oil and we have very few menu items with peanuts."
I did e-mail corporate after this experience and they told me that they use soybean oil. It irritates me that we never even ate our meals after the experience, but of course paid for it. There's $50 down the drain because of lazy or misinformed wait staff.

I would email or call corporate again and explain the situation you experienced. When we received mixed info last year I emailed corporate to tell them about our experience. I received $100 in gift certificates!!
Good Luck!
