Okay, call me a bonehead but what is a "Nut Nazi"?
To my way of thinking it is implicitive of someone that:
A.) has unrealistically high expectations of other people
B.) refers to them almost as the "enemy"
C.) treats family members including parents as untrustworthy
D.) oversteps boundaries by going through people's homes looking for P/Ns,
E.) reading too much into things
F.) nightmares, imagining far too many things that could happen
G.) being controlled by fear that leads to anger
H.) talks incessantly about PA w/spouses that are over tired of the subject
I.) etcetera
Or is this someone that has a healthy attitude about PA & is being referred to in a joking manner?
My mother is a "Congestive Heart Nut"...she watches my father's diet like a hawk...to an extreme.
My mother-in-law was a "kidney failure nut" grabbing various foods away from her husband who was on dialysis.
And, then there are the diabetes folks who really have to watch their diet, too.
So, diligent behavior is not confined to those with a peanut allergy.
I really don't want to be mean and I know nobody is trying to be hurtful but the word "nazi" used in this lighthearted way really bothers me.

Well, by most of your defininations I guess I'm considered a "nut nazi"...
Although I consider it being a loving and concerned parent trying to keep my child safe and reaction free. Although, I wouldn't go through someones house looking for peanut products, If I wasn't sure it was safe then he wouldn't stay.
Geez, of all the terms in this world, loving parent now = a nazi....
To all, I just wanted to bring up a quote that I thought needed addressing here.
I think it is an important enough one to remember, at least for me it is a very important enough lesson, to remember and be sensitive to others posting here.

My apologies to Miriam. Small-letter nazi (as opposed to Nazi) has come to mean many things to many people. Check out the list of synonyms:

I found it interesting that "crusader" is mentioned, since that word has been bandied about a bit by the Bush administration as a positive thing. Different interpretations mean we can either create a chasm or build a bridge. Thanks for the kind way of building a bridge, Miriam.

I agree with Cam's Mom. And, while Ihave never searched someone's cabinets for nuts, I have done walk-throughs. . . I wish I could say that they have all been unnecessary.
