Hi, Does anyone know or have any experience with any doctors with Duke University Hospital doctors? I don't feel my current allergist is doing all he can for my daughter so we are seeking a second opinion. We have an appointment for May there. Any knowledge or recomendations would be apprectiated. We live in Charlotte NC but are willing to travel anywhere our insurance will allow to get help. She is chronic and has eczema so bad it makes me sad.

Thanks
Brooke

Haven't had experience with the al-lergists at Duke, but all the doctors I have had experience with there have been great. Actually, the whole area is a patient's dream: with Duke and UNC medical schools less than 10 miles apart, you can't turn around in Durham and Chapel Hill without tripping over a doctor. It's been about five years since we lived there, but I found that, since you had so many doctors to choose from, they were very good about customer service. As far as Duke particulary goes, I had surgery there - a specialist referral through the US Army medical system - and both my mother and grandfather were treated there at various times. Service was great.
My allergist - though for environmental, not food, allergies - was Dr. Ron Gerbe at Chapel Hill E.N.T. Great experience with him and his staff.

My son sees Dr. Wesley Burks here in Arkansas, and we just got word that he accepted a position at Duke and will begin in July. He is a magnificent doctor and we are very sad to be losing him.

Thank you all for your insight. I am very excited about going b/c after doing research on the doctor we will be seeing I have found out she is an eczema specialist and that is what we need. We are currently seeing a dermotologist and allergist and they do not share the same views and constantly give me conflicting information. I can't wait to get one opinion and hope it helps my daughter.
Thanks again.
