Has PA made your family eat healthier?

Without a doubt. Not only has it eliminated a lot of processed foods (OK, read "cookies" and "ice cream"), but since I read every label so thoroughly it has made me even more conscious of even safe things that just aren't healthy. I'll read a label, and even though it poses no problem from the allergen perspective I'll think "Ugh - do I really want to eat [b]that[/b]?"

Yes. Fast food is no longer that convenient, and the grocery store baked goods that tempt the other lost mortals that must try to pass by them to get to the meat section, (usually failing and succumbing to these sirens of sugar and fat), have no power over me anymore.

Yes, I think we definitely eat better. No more cookies and baked goods, unless we bake them, Ive stopped buying chips, and cut down the ice cream. Most snack foods are may contain, and you feel guilty letting one kid eat all the good stuff and one not.
I even was talking to another pa mom recently and she asked me, "have you lost weight since you started doing the pa thing?" We both had.
I do agree that the more I read labels the more disgusted at how much other crap is in the food we eat. What is all that stuff and what does it do? We probably dont want to know!
My ds is also allergic (?) to red dye and it amazes me how many foods that arent even red have dye in them. Why does everything have to be colored anyways?

Since, with the information I received on this board....I changed my diet...sugar-free with no dessert type foods, ice cream, candies etc.
Anyway, it has contributed to a loss of 105 pounds.
I just was too heavy and reading these boards made me realize what a risk I was taking eating some of the "may contain" foods.
My diet is so much healthier...

Yes our family eats healthier. I know my brothers family, children included, is over weight because they eat everything and anything as I did as a child (Still over weight).
My kids are healthy and fit since we read ingred. labels and know what we are putting in our body.

No, the opposite probably ~ I was a vegetarian up until we figured out that Syd is allergic to soy, peanuts, peas and some tree nuts. So I dropped the vegetarian lifestyle choice for me and the children - since soy and nuts are a big part of it. When I dropped the veggie lifestyle, I kind of let other healthy choices go too. I am working on improving that. I still insist on no soda or fake juice, etc. But white bread, etc has creeped in.

We are MUCH healthier eaters! Madeline has had so many dietary restrictions, that whatever food we give her she eats it! She loves every vegtable out there and LIVES on fresh fruit! We ALL eat the same thing at meals, so consequently my hubby and I have had to eat healthier.
I was a nanny while in college and I fed the children I took care of CRAP compared to what I am feeding my own children now. I didn't blink an eye at the cookies, and pre-packaged stuff way back then. My food allergy child has taught me to be more conscious of the food going into us. If it has long words that I cannot pronouce or read, I know it's not naturally occuring and we shouldn't eat it! (I do occasionally sneak in a candybar while Maddie is at school-BAD MOMMY!) I have a friend who is a nutritionist and she claims you should try to remember the following rules for a meals: Only eat meat that can swim, fly, or walk. (nothing processed-like hot dogs, sausages, etc) And try to buy as many organic items without chemicals and additives and preservatives. Sometimes that is easier said than done! I have to add my voice to the "no" crowd. I'm sorry to admit that I have managed to find all the "safe" junk food out there. O.K., I'm exaggerating. But truthfully, the answer is really "no". Miriam
