Flavored coffee?

The other day I had a cup of coffee, and immediately afterwards felt absolutely HORRIBLE. Tired, dizzy, plugged up (sinuses) and really really sick to my stomach. It lasted for a few hours, and then went away. Came on immediately after I drank the coffee.

Now, I'm a coffee drinker. I used to work at Starbucks. I never get ill from coffee. However, when I thought about it, the coffee was from 7-11, and the other kind they were brewing on the SAME machine was hazelnut. I'm very allergic to hazelnuts. Would that be enough to do it?

Hi Karen, I believe that it would. Someone I know told me that one of her co-workers, who is pa/tna, had a serious reaction from flavored coffee. She needed the epi and went to the ER.

Yup, I think you nailed it. I have purchased hazelnut coffee which actually had the nuts in with the beans, not just a sprayed on flavor(which may or may not be real flavor). That could be alot of cross contamination. I even smell it when we go through the grocery store and watch for dd to react, but she has been fine.
Bummer. I understand *loving* a good cup of coffee from a place where they really make it well.
Glad you are okay. What did you do to treat it? becca

Oh I have to clarify that my coffee was NOT from Starbucks. We were on the road, and it was from 7-11. Starbucks has always been good to me. I love their lattes! (and can still make them in my sleep even)
I take an antihistimine every morning anyway, so I think that would've kept the reaction from getting any worse. I just felt really ill (like car sick, although I've never been car sick). I had the epi with me but didn't use it. I let dh know what was going on though, and he watched me carefully.

First of all, so sorry about that. That is really horrible since you are allergic. Maybe you should inform your boss about it first. Maybe he will consider. If you want guys some coffee makers review, be sure to read it from reliable source.
