I'm not sure if this is such a good idea for a 16 month old.
I'm sure that you are wanting to protect her by having the epi with her at all times but I can't imagine a baby wearing one of these.
This is just my opinion. I hope I didn't just upset you.
I agree with e-mom, and I also hope I'm not upsetting you. I can't imagine why a person would want a 16 month old to carry his/her own epi-pen. The idea does not sit well with me at all. I think the parent/caregiver should be the one carrying it. After all, a child of that age should never be out of the sight of a responsible adult.

Hello all,
No, your opinions don't upset me, although I do find statements such as "I can't imagine why someone would want a 16 month old to carry an epipen" to be a bit judgemental.
My reason for wanting my child to carry an epipen is that he goes to daycare and I'm concerned that he'll go to the park (as they often do) and the caregivers will forget to take along his epipen.
Obviously, if carrying an epipen isn't a good idea I'll reconsider.
Thanks for your support,
Jen
I don't even have a belt for my four yr old. I always carry it for him as he is not out of my sight and too young, IMO, to be responsible for this on his own. I suppose, as he gets older and goes places without one of his parents or grandparents around, I will have him carry it himself. The epi-pen is pretty easy to get open, I wouldn't want an accident to happen with it if he were to have constant access to it by wearing it.
Hi, you are right to want to protect your child, however, if you are worried that the daycare will "forget" the pen, maybe you should find a more responsible daycare center.
What I did with my 3 1/2 year old is get him a small backpack to carry his epipen in. He wants to know where his medicine is and loves to carry the backpack. I don't, however, let him have the backpack without an adult with him.
I realize your child is too small, but maybe the daycare would be willing to carry it in there with your childs name clearly on the bag. Just an idea. Also, you have to make sure it does not get too hot.

You are right: my comments were judgmental. I simply could not fathom of a situation where a baby would carry his or her own epi-pen. Now that you have explained it: I think the idea of having one of the caregivers carry it in a fanny pack is an excellent idea. Ideally they should be bringing a first aid kit to the park anyway. Perhaps they could keep one of your baby's epi-pens in the kit.
Good luck to you and your baby.
