Great article by Hugh Sampson in the April Parents Magazine. It is in a Q & A format, and gives the facts. Best of all, it encourages mothers with a history of allergy to avoid peanuts when pregnant, and tells parents not to give their children PB prior to the age of 2 (3 if they have a family history of allergies).
It is really refreshing to see an article like this in a general parenting magazine!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! I just received my copy of Parents magazine in the mail today and will definitely look for the article tonight! It is always great to see things written about PA to help educate and spread the word.
Damned if I didn't receive my complimentary copy to Parents magazine for last month instead of April month!
It would be great if this had a website link so that we all could see it.
Best wishes!

Got mine as well. As I sat reading the article I asked myself why was I reading it. I have been dealing with this for so many years that I should not have had to read it.I couldn't figure out what I was looking for. Hopefully many other people were reading it as we were. I think I am just hoping to read that there has been a finding as to why the allergy exists. Take care claire. OH have you people ever sat and read the embarrassing moments page. They are funny.
I thought the article was very good and came from a very respected doctor - I am posting the link to the article (I hope):

Bravo, Parents Magazine!
Sue in Sunny Arizona, thanks so much for posting the link. As luck would have it, I ended up receiving a copy of the magazine regardless!
I think I'm kinda like Claire. It didn't really tell me anything I didn't know. Well, I think the one part that I wish I had known, was that particularly if the Mother had allergies of any kind (and I have really severe environmental allergies and always have) that you shouldn't introduce peanut products until the age of three. Anyway, I do think that it was a really important article to have in such an "out there" magazine. If Parents Magazine is the same as Today's Parent in Canada, basically EVERY new Mom gets it until they feel they don't need it anymore (for whatever reason).
I also liked that it was Dr. Sampson because I have read so much about him both here and seen him on the FAAN videos.
I was really pleased. But again, Sue, I'm going to use the link now so I can send the article out to other PA parents. Many thanks!
