pI am in charge of the kitchen and snacks at Bible School this year. I am looking for a safe cracker to serve with cheese for a snack. What cracker is safe? It would be helpful if it didn't contain cottenseed oil as well. Is there such a thing?br /

I only purchase Nabisco crackers; Ritz, Wheat Thins, Club crackers etc.
I stay away from crackers that are cheese flavored and only buy plain ones.
I read the package every time I purchase an I item.
I hope this helps you in your search!
We also use Ritz crackers by Nabisco. My boys all love them.
Best wishes,

From my experience Ritz crackers are absolutely not safe. They say that they may contain traces. The cheese filled definitely say that they have peanuts. If a particular company makes any crackers with peanut, I go by the rule of avoiding all of their crackers. Double check the Ritz labels and see if it says it. I've never felt comfortable with them.
Madison's Mom-do you use crackers at all? If so, which brand? The only kind I've seen around here other than generic are ritz and keebler. I trust ritz more than keebler. I've never seen a box of regular ritz that had a may contain warning on it (I always check labels 3 times-when I buy, when I put them away, and when I serve them), and my kids eat them almost every day.

we are very careful to avoid cottonseed and sunflower oil as well. We have found that Cheese Nips by Nabisco have neither of the oils and don't have any notes about PA cross-contam. or suspicious ingredients. Good Luck in your search - I hope this helps!
We use Nabisco Wheat Thins and Saltines, and that is about it. Why do you avoid cottonseed oil?
I know without a doubt that the ritz bits cheese crackers state in the ingredients - peanuts. I will double check on the Ritz regular crackers when I go back to the store. Do you know if the Ritz regular are processed away from the Ritz bits crackers? I too, allow saltines and I've been buying cheez-it by Sunshine. I haven't actually checked with them, but I haven't seen any of their other products containing pb. I also have been using Goldfish, but I recently noticed the small individual size of Cinnamon Goldfish say they may contain peanuts. So, I'm not sure anymore about regular Goldfish. These are on my agenda to call about. I'll let you know what I find out. Does anyone else know about these products?
Madison's mom-Cheez-it and Sunshine are made by Keebler. I don't trust keebler at all since they refuse to tell me if something is made on shared lines or not. They make lots of pb stuff-those club crackers with pb in the middle, for one. The last time I talked to them they told me that there's no way to tell what products are made on shared lines. Some of their stuff will have a "may contain" or "processed on the same equipment" warning, but the absence of the warning does not guarantee that the product is made on dedicated lines.

Well, I went to the store yesterday and I noticed Sunshine has now come out with a Cheez-It pb cracker. So, they are off my list anyway now.
I did check the Ritz. You were right - the Ritz plain crackers say nothing about peanuts, but the minis do. It is actually the ingredient in the cheese minis. So, that was why I completely took them off my list.
It's very discouraging. I'm not so sure what to buy anymore.

Isn't that the truth!! I hope it doesn't come down to us having to make homemade crackers someday.
