pI was at a Panera Bread store recently, and asked about their products and explained my son's allergy (PA). The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful and pointed out to me the over the counter menu, which lists all allergens. I went to the website and found a similar listing of what I saw in the store, but the gentleman could not confidentally anwer my question about the products being made on the same line, etc./p
pThis is the ingredent listing from Panera Bread: /p
pAnd this is the response that I got back from the email agent: Thank you for taking the time to contact Panera Bread. We are happy to know that you enjoy our food, and that the service has been good for you./p
pThanks to loyal customers like you, Panera Bread/Saint Louis Bread Co. is enjoying tremendous success. We appreciate your business and your kind words. /p
pCorinne, to help answer your question, we bake all of pur products on a "common line" another words, yes there may be different products mixed up on the same sheet that may contain peanuts. We of course change the tissue and the pan every time before putting new product in the oven./p
pThank you again for contacting us, and we hope that you continue to enjoy Panera Bread.br /
Have a good day!br /
Sincerely,br /
Tracy Bonanobr /
Customer Comment Coordinator /p
pSo although they are taking some precautions and awarenesses, they do not have seperate lines per say./p

Hi Corinne,
My best friend and I meet at Panera once a week for coffee & bagels. They have a Peanut Butter Bagel and all their bagels are sliced on the same slicer for all of their bagels as well as their toaster is used for all flavors!
They also have PB&J on their lunch menu.
I enjoy my time there once a week but I would not bring my PA child there.
Thanks for your post on this!

I also love Panera, but go there w/o dd. The PB is right out on the sandwich counter with its own knife -but still.
DD has eaten their sourdough many times with no ill effects.

The Panera Bread closest to me has peanut oil in their chips.

We also avoid it. My son is also allergic to tree nuts and it seems like everywhere you look at Panera there are nuts. Without my son though I love the asiago cheese bagel-yum!

Hi Heather,
The Panera here also has peanut oil in their bags of potato chips.
I do believe these are the same chips found at the *deli* counter at Publix Supermarket where you can have a sandwich made to order (combo meal) which includes these chips and a drink. I can't remember the name of them though.
AJSMAMA, I enjoyed my Sesame Bagel and coffee there this morning...haven't tried the Asiago one...will have to expand my horizons!

Love their sandwiches and I have brought my dd in there, wiping the table and giving her food from home(pretty much do that everywhere partially because she is so finicky, and with the allergies it just gives more reason). The one time we sat like that, I noticed the PB crunch bagel and felt rather edgy the whole time I ate. We do still pop in together to grab takeout before we visit Grandpa(he loves their soups), but I never feed her any of their food. becca

becca,
Have you tried the *Turkey Bacon Bravo* sandwich? It has turkey, bacon, lettuce, special sauce on a tomato basil bread.
O..M..G! It is soooo good!

Connie, this is too funny. A few days after reading this subject and posting, don't dd and I meet Daddy for lunch, and Panera bread was the most convenient place for efficiency and time reasons. He thought I was "nuts" wiping down the table meticulously, and nagging dd for wandering in the least(she is barely 3). Poor thing, we bring her in there and she gets nagged, right? He never gets as worried about this stuff, not sure if that is good or bad(he is very careful of what goes *in* her mouth).
Anyway... didn't I have that Turkey Bacon Bravo sandwich, and it was very yummy! I just love a great sandwich. How funny you posted me and asked that very question!
The biggest sadness for me with this allergy is thinking my little girl won't be able to enjoy dining out and different foods the way we do. Dh and I just love food and I love to cook. I am learning lots of new healthy things, but it takes alot of time to practice and learn new ways to cook(we had to give up eggs in recipies too). Luckily, she basically hates eating and is very picky. Maybe to her benefit to stay this way, right? becca

Hi becca,
Isn't that sandwich just the best? Usually when I meet my girlfriends there, we just get a bagel and coffee. One of my friends was in the mood for lunch...it was about 10:30 or so and so she ordered the Turkey Bacon Bravo sandwich and when she sat down at the table, I took one look of my bagel and immediately started staring at her sandwich. Finally she asked me if I wanted a bite! It took her long enough!! Needless to say, I ended up eating the other half of her sandwich PLUS my bagel. Sad...very sad!
I know exactly what you mean about our little ones not being to eat out like we do. We do go to Appleby's & Chili's about once a month and DS has never had a problem at either place. I do feel grateful there is a place he can safely go when we do eat out.
I don't know about your particular Panera but ours has the *Peanut Butter Bagel* cut up in samples when you first walk in and I cringe when I see mother's handing their toddlers this bagel.
Anywho, thanks for posting back about the sandwich...it is the best and yes...that was perfect timing! :-)
Also, I didn't realize you were in Massachusetts! My DH's family is in Worcester and my son's Godparents live in Leicester. We try to get the family up there once a year so they can see their grandparents, Aunts/Uncles and cousins.

Ooh, a Panera's is opening on Tuesday about 1/2 hour away from here! Guess I'll be saving the other errands I have to do in that area until then... I've just GOT to try that sandwich! While Kevin is in school, of course!
