You Don't Need Nuts to Fly

The Nut Free Mom Blog (http://nut-freemom.blogspot.com) and Food Allergy Buzz (that's me, http://www.foodallergybuzz.com) have started a Facebook Group called "You Don't Need Nuts to Fly". It's not exclusive to nuts but we thought that got the point across in a concise way. No one needs nuts, peanuts, seeds, or any one particular food to fly, so we're trying to gather as many people as we can as "fans" to speak out against Northwest's and Delta's less than food allergy friendly policies.

Hope you will consider being a "fan" of this group!

Thanks!

Our group now has 112 members! Did you do the AAFA airplane/peanuts survey yet?

I am definately a fan of this group. I have never flew on Northwest or Delta but now that I know they are less than friendly about peanut allergies, I think I will stay away. We always fly southwest and it is always a challenge when we have my son who has a peanut allergy. We are very lucky he does not have an airborne allergy but I worry that in such tight quarters such as an airplane, it could affect him. The last time we flew with him, they never made an announcement about someone flying with a peanut allergy and the people sitting right behind him opened up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I could tell you I was not happy. He smelt it immediately. Thank god he was okay and it didn't affect him. It seems every time we fly though, there is always some ignorant person that wants to insist on his peanuts. What is wrong with people? Do they not get how dangerous it is and how are they going to feel when a little kid dies on their flight because of them. I feel peanuts should be stopped on all flights. It is so dangerous, they should not be allowed.

Great work! What is it exactly about these two particular airlines? Do they serve nuts? We fly Skyservice, Sunwing or Air Transat. Have to say, of all three, Air Transat took the cake. They even did a preboarding announcement (most wait until passengers have already boarded which leaves room for people to pull out nuts when they take their seats).

I will definitely be joining your group on facebook.
