I have given up hope, perhaps if I was the transvestite peanut allergic, latex allergic , red leather wearing trannie, I would get on the show.................................................................but then again , perhaps not ...........................................................not with my thighs.
there are too many allergic people out there to make it interesting these days ??

I wonder if Oprah is gunshy after the whole court case from the beef industry. Maybe she's afraid she'll be sued by the pb companies???
Who knows?
william'smummy---too funny! You really should write a book.

OK...........I'm brand new at this.
I'm retired. My grandson was diagnosed last week with PA (Peanut allergy).
We can all agree that we need "sun light" on these life threatening allergies.
I don't know what to do, but I'm damned sure going to do something.
I have read about this promising drug (TNX-401)..........apparently due to legal entanglements it is on hold and has been on hold for 3-4 years........I find this reprehensible. Of course no one cares what I find rerehensible.......
I have also found that the number of folks with PA has doubled recently.
Sales of all things "peanut" must be taking a nosedive.........THEREFORE, peanut producers, peanut butter producers, the list is endless.....but all manufacturers that use peanuts must be losing sales and MONEY !!!
One would think that those that sell peanuts in any form, would have a monetary interest in supporting any type of medication that, once taken, would mitigate or even negate a trip to the ER due to accidental ingestion of anything peanut.
I have some questions and hopefully I'll get some answers in this forum:
A) Is there a national spokesperson for this condition? (EG:Gerry Lewis for MD)
B)Do we have a national committee that advocates for us?
C)Has anyone here heard any more re research on drugs to minimze effects of accidental peanut ingestion?
D) If we don't have national advocacy.....is there a good reason why?
I'm just getting started so please bear with me if my thoughts seem a little scattered.
Thanks for reading this.

Hi grampy!!
You have great questions. Sorry that I do not have the answers. I just wanted to let you know that anything you do to advocate for our PA kids...you will have our support!!
I figured 4 years ag that the drug would have been ready prior to my DD entering kindergarten, well she is there right now..no drugs!!
I do not know of any national spokesman. I do know that Canadians are much better off than us Americans in terms of labeling laws, etc...
Good Luck to you!! Go make changes!!!!!

Thank you for responding.....I'm encouraged that someone is watching.
The more I learn about Pnut allergies, the more I realize what a fight this is.
In my 6 days of research on this subject,it does seem that Canadians are certainly involved with this struggle.
Is any celebrity affected by Pnut allergies?? There has to be a sports figure, an actor, a politician, or some well known personality that either has PA or is closely related to someone that is.
Seems to me that the squeaky wheel gets the grease and I have heard very little re this subject in my lifetime.
With strong advocacy, perhaps drug companies would be inspired, perhaps peanut manufacturers would shell out (no pun intended) money for research, perhaps legislators would make an effort for better labeling laws............
My initial research indicates that approx 3 million folks have PA (in America).........assuming each of these folks have 10 concerned family members, we are looking at 30 million people---------30 million people should be able to raise the roof on this subject if we all work together.
Who's in charge here??? Is there a national board??
I'm at loss because I have not yet found out where to start !!
As an "aside",emily's mom, every time I attended my grandsons T-ball games, a little girl (a sister of one of his teamates) sort of appeared right next to me. She was the cutest little thing and we always spoke at every T-ball game. Her name is Emily !!!!!
