Hey Kara,
We go to W-MI every summer, my parents are there! How are the schools for food allergies? My mom thought she had read some districts had gone nut-free.

Hey TwoKidsNJ!
So are we just the opposite?
Anyway, my kids are attending a private school in Zeeland. They get the hot lunch from Zeeland Public Schools and I know that they just went peanut free this year!!
However, I have a whole other set of problems now. I don't even think we are dealing with peanut allergy anymore!!
I don't know much else about the schools my oldest is just starting kindergarten and my allergic child is just starting three-school one morning a week. I'm still figuring it all out!!

Maddiesmom, I read that you are now living in Singapore. I'd be very interested to know how allergy-aware it is over there. I'm hoping to tale my PA son to Malaysia someday.

Hi Kara,
Pretty much! We go just a little north of you on Lake MI in the summer, but I grew up in mid-MI. DH grew up in the town next to you in NJ You live in a great area; DH and I would love to live there! Nicer pace of life, and good location!

Okay, perhaps better left alone and we could continue talking shopping (and where everyone is from), but I just Googled both of my e-mail addresses (Hotmail and Yahoo), both available here, and all that comes up are threads back to here. 2 on each account.
I NEVER use my ISP account. But even by Googling the e-mail addresses I do use, as I say, it comes up with nothing but posts from here and very little.
So, does it depend on what search engine you're using?
What other ones should I try to see what I get?
I know that if I Google - Peanut Allergy + Schools, Adele had found an on-line article I had written years ago.
When I Google my name, nothing except stuff from here and a posting at www.richardhell.com years ago.
I don't want to paranoid for nothing, but I also want to be cautious, KWIM?
Best wishes!

I went to Singapore for a week in 2004.. so it is possible for a PA individual to visit Singapore safely.
You just need to be careful.. some dishes do have peanut / satay sauce so you have to be selective where you ate. I ate at Sushi Tei, Korean BBQ, and had the Singaporean specialty chicken rice. BUt you have to be more careful than in Canada/USA since there is not as much allergy awareness there as there is in Nortth America.
But I would go again as it is safe if you are careful. =)

Hi Sharon! I agree. The area we live in is great! Beautiful lake aand beaches and still close enough to GR for our "city" life! The lakeshore is really wonderful.
What city did our DH grow up in? We lived in GlenRock.
Where did you grow up?

We are from Coleman, Michigan. Its a very, very small town in the middle of nowhere. The entire "town" is only one square mile.

It's about 40 min South East of Down Town SA. It's a nice traditional small town yet close enough to commute for work. Plus in a little less than two hours we can be on the beach in Corpus for the weekend (not that we can manage to get away that often.) We've been here about two years.

Yes. Different search engines index content differently. There are pages out there that search content across multiple search engines - I don't have a link here at home though.
My personal take on this is that if you don't want people to know who you are, then (at a minimum) you should not post a personal email address. Use an email set up for the purpose if you must.
If your email address contains personal details as many do (your last name, your birth date, etc.) then it's very easy for people to determine who you are, especially if you post additional information like your first name, your home town, your husband's name...
One other note - if you right click on photos, you can determine their name (and often the directory in which they're stored). People forget this part and give their Photobucket directory names that contain personal information.
I guess it ultimately only matters if you care if people know who you are. A lot of people on this board don't seem to have privacy concerns.
