What tests to expect for 7 month old?

I take my 7 1/2 month old to the Dr. on Monday to discuss her bad reactions to rice and oatmeal baby cereal (the only food that I have given her). I am just wondering what tests he is going to suggest. I am really afraid of a skin test since it would be exposing her to allergens. I also don't like to think about the blood that has to be taken for a CAP RAST or RAST test and I don't even understand the darn difference between the two tests. I was just wondering if anyone has had tests done on a baby around this age and what tests the Doctor did on your baby.
Thx in advance.

Where i live our Pediatrician didn't really want tests done till 12 mo. They don't reccommend them because so many infants grow out of the things they'll test for. When i took DS to his first allegy test they only did the common stuff since his back was not big enough to do much more. He was tested at 18 mo. Grew out of milk and egg. Still stuck with PA though. Only did blood test for that.
Good luck to you. Hope everything turns out OK.

My friend's baby had a reaction to bananas. She took her to the allergist (their other dd has a tn allergy) and he did skin tests. She was about 8m old.
My son went to the same allergist for a possible shellfish allergy. He broke out in hives all over when I had shrimp and kissed him. The allergist wouldn't skin test him b/c it would be too risky so he sent us for a cap rast.
This same allergist also said he wouldn't see another child in our neighborhood who had cap rast positives to peanuts, oats and soy b/c of his age. And he was 8 months old. Not sure why, but that's what the mother said! I am guessing it all depends on their moods!
I am not thrilled with our allergists in my state!
