ROFL!! (Yes, it used to bug me too... but you'll see what I mean )
LOL- laughing out loud/laugh out loud
ROFL- rolling on floor laughing out loud
DD- dearest/dear daughter
DS- dear/dearest son
DH- dear/dearest husband
SO- significant other
(There are many many other net-isms too numerous to mention. These are just commonly used here.)
I am sure that this helps (a lot)
Happy enlightenment and best wishes

babyjakesmom,
That's so funny! (LOL!!!) Thanks for posting a question that has been puzzling me for months. My husband told me what LOL was, and I assumed DH was for dear husband or darling husband, but I had questions about some others. Your post answered them. Thanks.

Lol. Too funny. I have another one. I've been online for years but never knew what IRL means until today. It's "In Real Life."
Example: IRL my friends would call me crazy for being so obsessed with peanuts-as opposed to my cyber friends who know exactly what I'm talking about.

Babyjakesmom-
LOL baffled me also. I asked everyone at work & no one had a clue. It drove me crazy until I finally found someone who knew (LOL)!!

I pulled up an older list that I found useful when I was lost with the abbreviations. Look under "Off Topic."
