I also find some things over the top. I've found my own behavior over the top.
I was also thinking, when someone comes here just out of curiosity, there is really no mission statement or tidbit to preface the discussions with.
Maybe a short, informative mission statement on the homepage with some statistics and facts would further help people understand why we're here and more about peanut allergies.

I dont know WHAT the other website is, but from what people are saying HERE, it doesnt sound good.
Hello? People? Are you OUT there?
The world is made up of MANY people - educated, noneducated, and in between.
Which famous person said "You cant please all the people all the time...?"
If someone has something BAD to say about someone, they CAN. Thats their choice.
It's also my choice to ignore them. I dont get why people get worked up over someone saying something that bothers them? You don't HAVE to like it... But y'know... you caught me in a transitional period here...
I can't waste my time looking at a website that I have NO interest in. I have my share of stuff to do. Prioritize people.
If you want to read about people bad mouthing people with food allergies, go to Google or Yahoo, and sign up for 'alerts' and get them daily in your email... Because there ARE blogs just LIKE that... Or if you're biased towards a race, creed, color, or type of hamster, so be it.. google those too.

Totally excellent suggestion, IMHO.
Bet if a few versions were written by some of us & proposed to Chris, he'd consider, edit as he deemed appropriate, and place atop the Boards.
(I would hate to see this effort attached to the ugliness in this particular thread from other blog/forum.)
Wanna start the new topic, or should I?

I would like to say that I have issue with some of the posters in this thread that think some posts or posters can be over the top sometimes. I personally find that very offensive.
This is a support board. We come here new posters and old because we are (or were) made to feel comfortable and not "crazy" or "Over the top" about our anxieties, worries and fears (real OR imagined). So many new posters are just scared out of their wits that their beloved child(ren) can die from merely eating (or worse yet, touching or breathing) a substance that is very prevalent in most of U.S. society. They are looking for information and advice. NOT other posters saying things like, "well to be honest, sometimes some people seem to be a little over the top about things" (and I paraphrase on purpose).
Personally, I would like everyone to feel comfortable posting ANY of their fears or concerns without fear of judgement. AT LEAST NOT HERE of all places.

Oh, good monkey lord. Don't even bother with the LJ child-free types. Really. Just roll your eyes and move on. That poster is a child-hater, not merely childfree. And trust me, you do not want to go there. Don't waste any more anger, breath, or thoughts. They are not worth your time.
